How to Build Your Own Car
by ERIC HILL
Well, car users don't have much choice these days. If they need a car, they must go to the store to buy one. No other alternatives. That might seem a very simple task C only cars don't come cheap. You can't buy them out of the few change in your pocket. New cars mean three years worth of monthly installments. Second hand cars could mean half of your life savings.
What if you can make your own car? That isn't such a bad idea. The only problem is that building a car is much more expensive than simply buying one. That's also the reason why everybody is still better off buying a car than making one.
But that doesn't mean it's not possible. Surely, you can build your own car right in your garage. However, don't expect to come up with something sleek, new, and flashy out of the makeshift tools that you have. You can definitely build your own car. But take it as a hobby and not as a business, unless of course your last name is Ford.
One type of car you can make is an electric car. This may sound like complex to you but it isn't really C especially if you're going to just recycle the car that's sitting in your garage for a long time now. Gas guzzler vehicles are the most suitable candidates. And the more functional engine it has, the better it is for you.
Here, you're really not making an entirely new car. Remodeling and transforming is more like it. Let's leave the manufacturing of new cars to the experts. Anyway, that's their job so let's not put them out of business. As far as this electric car project is concerned, you're going to need a good donor vehicle to start off, preferably the one with a manual transmission.
You're going to need a conversion kit too. What you're about to do is to convert the car's motor and controller to electric. So you might want to get a donor car that's not too old, preferably less than 10 years old. Get popular car models too. This way, the parts that you're going to need will be an easy find.
Enumerating the step-by-step guideline in making an electric car usually comes in a long, sometimes hard-to-understand text. So for you to be guided accordingly, it is best that you get some easy to follow instructional book on how to go about this project. Get the one that's a perfect match to the type of car you are hoping to build. It also pays to work around somebody who has done a project similar to this. That way, you would come up with a fully functional electric car that will make you proud.
The more efficient you build the car, the more functional it should be. And it is going to be your own creation too, in the very least. If you have done it right, you will certainly love the electric car you have just created dearly C maybe even immortalize it your garage.
