Why Buy A Used Vehicle?
by ISLA CAMPBELL
There can sometimes be a bit of a stigma surrounding the purchase of used vehicles. Some people think of them as being less reliable than new ones, but in reality just because they may be a few years older, doesnt automatically mean they are of a lesser quality. Weve all heard plenty of stories about people who have had no end of problems with brand new vehicles they have just driven off the forecourt, for example!
If the time has come to replace your current vehicle, you will save a lot of money if you look at getting a used model rather than a brand new one. Everyone knows that the depreciation in value begins as soon as you drive away, so buying brand new is actually not the best option at all if you want to make sure you get the most for your money.
Some people are understandably a bit nervous about buying a used vehicle since they may not have a lot of knowledge about what to look for. If this sounds familiar then its a good idea to go to a reputable dealer or company that will provide you with a vehicle that has been thoroughly checked over before it is offered for sale.
The other advantage of this kind of company is that they will also be able to offer you good car finance deals that will make it even easier to buy the used car you want. While it would be nice to be able to pay in cash, most of us wont have the cash available to be able to get the car we need to have to get us to and from work every day C one that we need to be able to rely on.
Another advantage of buying a used car over a new one is that you will be able to choose one which has had good press. A new car fresh off the production line may look great, but in truth they can have issues and flaws that are as yet undiscovered. When you look at it like this, you can actually know a lot more about a car that is a few years old than you can about a new one. Spares can be a lot cheaper too.
The greatly reduced price of a used car also makes them far more accessible to all of us. You can spend anything from a few hundred pounds on your next car to a few thousand and still save thousands off a brand new model.
In short if you want to make your money stretch as far as possible you should definitely be looking towards getting a used car when your current one needs replacing.
