Exploring Central Illinois in the Car of My Dreams

by EMILY PARKINSON

Finding the right collage can be a daunting task, unless of course you have the right mode of transportation. Lucky for me, I was able to explore the University of Illinois exactly how and when I wanted thanks to my new 2008 Chevy Aveo.

As a proud midwestern girl, I was excited to spend the weekend exploring the beautiful rivers and rolling countryside of Central Illinois. So, a couple friends and I hopped in my Chevy Aveo and began our journey north C windows down and music blaring.

We cruised along with my iPod hooked into the auxiliary audio input jack, enjoyed the breeze from the power sunroof and rocked out in my Victory Red Aveo all the way down highway 72. My new cars rear air conditioning, great sound system and smooth ride made this the road trip of a lifetime for me and both my passengers.

Time flew by and before we knew it, we were cruising down Lincoln Avenue, admiring the historical brick buildings and lush vegetation of the University of Illinois campus. Anxious to experience some of the college and community attractions, we pulled out the Central Illinois map and began exploring. However, since the University straddles the border of the cities Urbana and Champaign, we got a little confused and ended up performing a couple U-turns. Luckily my Chevy Aveo turned on a dime, so we could get back on track safely and without wasting time.

That weekend my friends and I experienced Urbana-Champaign as much as possible. We strolled the Japan House gardens, ate at some unique little restaurants, discussed university courses with professors and even met some new friends!

Truth be told, I was glad to relax and have a little fun in the midst of all the stress of finishing high school and planning my future. After this amazing weekend, I will definitely be applying to the University of Illinois. Though moving away from home and stepping out into the unknown will be nerve-wracking, at least I was able to get a feel for the campus and make a few friends along the way.

Im also relieved that I have a Chevy Aveo to save me some money C thanks to that great gas mileage. And if I need anything for my car, Ill have a Central Illinois Chevy dealership right down the road C which will definitely help mom and dad relax when it comes to taking my car to college.
