The life
by EVANDER KLUM
Operating a vehicle the proper way is not the sole answer to lessen the 1.2 million annual fatalities worldwide due to traffic accidents. Automobile manufacturers have realized the need to integrate safety devices to their models. Renowned for its luxurious vehicles, the Swedish automaker Volvo enhances safety by equipping the models it manufactures with Volvo Airbags.
In Europe alone, about 40,000 people die because of road accidents. This alarming demographic of fatalities pushed Volvo to assure its clients that the company's vehicle models are geared with high-quality safety features like the Volvo Airbags. Like seat belts, airbags also help in preventing the possibility of severe injuries to drivers and passengers. Volvo Airbags that are made of inflatable nylon fabric prevent drivers and passengers from hitting the steering wheel and dashboard where these safety components are installed. Since the first commercial production of airbags in the 1980's, deaths due to frontal collisions decreased by about thirty percent. With the ongoing campaign to save lives, automobile companies such as Volvo have developed airbags that are not only situated at the front but also at both sides of vehicle interiors. Injuries and fatalities at the worse, due to various probabilities of collisions, are better prevented in modern vehicles that are installed with both front and side airbags.
Airbags are equipped with sensors that determine when the device should inflate. Whenever a collision force of at least 10 to 15 miles per hour is detected, a mechanical switch is triggered to flip automatically. After which, the airbags inflate in an instant. A microchip installed in the air bag system is responsible for relaying the collision information to the sensors.
To ensure that Volvo Airbags are certainly working effectively, crash tests are conducted by the Swedish automobile company in its Volvo Safety Center. Aside from the company's own tests, Volvo airbag models in the US also undergo the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations independent tests. It is similarly comforting that Volvo Airbags are always partnered with reliable seat belts. When accidents happen, the vehicle frame and the interior design of Volvo cars work hand in hand in saving lives on the road.
