Foreign car makers are thinking big for India with their new product line. With so many models in India, it is bit confusing to choose from. Recently Nissan announced that it will roll out its premium SUV Murano in India by this year end. The crossover SUV will target the niche market of India. Currently, the company is offering two premium cars the X-trail and the Teana sedan. The Murano will be a new addition to the existing portfolio.

Nissan has also ventured with French car maker Renault to set up a small car production facility in Chennai and will be operational before the launch of Murano. Nissan is known for its perfect engineering and Murano also follows the same perfection. Getting into its technical detail, this premium SUV will be enhanced with a real time 4WD (four wheel drive system). The intelligent off-roading system begins with 50:50 split which can move to either 100 percent torque to the front wheels or a 60: 40 or 80:20 split options while negotiating corners.

Nissan scores with its powertrain, which creates a thrill among serious off roaders. It is powered by 3.5 liter 24 valve DOHC V6 engine, churning out a healthy bhp of 265 at 6000 rpm and a 34.28 kgm of torque at 4,400 rpm.

The powertrain is paired with the continuously variable transmission system. The SUV makes use of the torque efficiently which improves the drivability of the vehicle in City and rough patches equally smooth.

The exterior posses an angular but muscular body frames. The headlamps features a new-quad projector lights and a thicker air dam gives it a menacing look and rides on larger 20 inch wheels which are perfect for rough Indian roads. The rear taillights get LED tail lamps. A dual moon roof is also offered. The interiors are loaded with climate controls and memory enabled seats. The cabin ambience can be changed with the mood lighting, which is a new feature for the Murano. For those who like to listen to music in full blast, Murano comes with a 11 speaker Bose sound system with 9.3 GB hard disk which can store n-number of songs. The LCD screens are mounted on the front headrest to enable easy viewing by rear passengers. Bluetooth and push start buttons are fitted for convenience. Murano will make Indian get a feel of the international standards of cars. It will be pitted against Mitsubishi Montero, BMW X3 and Mercedes M-class and Toyota Prado. It could even give the cheaper Honda CR-V a tough competition. But the price is a mind boggling Rs 40 lakh. That means only the super rich can avail this car and show it off as an asset.
