by REBECCA WALLACE
Not only do you have to cope with the stress of moving house but also with moving abroad. With all the new changes - culture, regulations, forms, language - this can often be a daunting time, however the following information aims to make it a little less stressful.
Its never too soon to begin planning for a move, and veteran movers have found that a comprehensive timetable and checklist is the best strategy to ensure a smooth relocation. Its a great way to involve the entire family in the move and to spread some of the responsibilities to each person even your children. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment as items are checked off, moreover, as the weeks roll by, your checklist will help ensure that nothing has been overlooked or omitted from your planning, and that alone will go a long way towards relieving some of your anxiety.
You will find out that removals company offer not only man and van, but also packing, overseas shipping and international removals for personal effects and household goods shipments from anywhere in the UK to most destinations worldwide.
Tips for a pain-free move:
* Ensure your property abroad is in on course for completion for your removal date. * Call your removal Company to ensure they have scheduled the move for the correct date. * Make your personal travel arrangements - flights, crossings, car-hire, hotels etc. * Make travel arrangements and reservations for your moving trip. However, don't make plane reservations for the same day that you're moving out. House completions are often delayed, and other unexpected situations often arise. * Collect important papers (insurance, will, deeds, stock, etc.). * Arrange to close accounts at your local bank and open accounts in your new locality * It's best to take precious items yourself - things such as jewellery, financial or legal papers, photos, coins etc. * Label all boxes with the room the items belong in. Highlight boxes that contain fragile items. Write your name and mobile phone number on each box. * Always use specialist wrapping paper or bubblewrap for fragile items. Newspaper may stain or damage your valuables. Tape the bottom of each box prior to filling, then pad the bottom with linen, paper or bubble wrap.
On Moving Day: ? Make sure that someone is at home to answer the van foreman's questions. ? Record all utility meter readings (gas, electric, water). ? Read your order of service and inventory carefully before you sign them. Keep these -- and all related papers -- in a safe location until all charges have been paid. Once the removal van man arrived at your new home the removal crew will unload your personal effects into the rooms required, and if unpacking is required all debris will be removed. Once the removal is complete you will be asked to complete a customer report to grade our service. This may be completed at the completion of the removal or mailed to us in the following days. You may also receive a secondary questionnaire within 14 days asking your overall opinion of our service from start to finish, your comments will help us maintain & improve our service.
